Welcome

Hello! I am the Sir Easa Saleh Al-Gurg Professor of International Studies and a Professor of Political Science in the Department of International Studies at the American University of Sharjah.

I teach classes on international organizations, public international law, and US foreign policy. In my research, I studied anti-Americanism and public opinion, the role of leaders in war, and the effects of ideas on monetary policy-making in Japan. I am now studying how the US manages its partners and allies in its world order.

From 2014 to 2018, I was a senior editor at International Studies Quarterly, the flagship journal of the International Studies Association. Before joining AUS, I taught at the University of California, Berkeley; Vanderbilt University; and Victoria University of Wellington. I am a native of Italy, a US citizen, and an avid runner.
